Immigration Law

States like Florida have enacted laws that govern certain activities related to immigration. These laws address issues such as employment eligibility verification, the hiring and use of undocumented workers, discrimination against immigrants, and state benefits requirements and restrictions regarding education and drivers' licenses for unauthorized aliens. In Florida, the term "Federal immigration agency" refers to the United States Department of Justice and the United States Department of Homeland Security, including United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and United States Customs and Border Protection. Florida law also defines "immigration detainer" as a request issued by a federal immigration agency to detain a person based on probable cause to believe that the person is a removable alien under federal immigration law. It's important to note that the interplay between federal and state immigration laws can be complex and sometimes contentious.
